Does jazzhouston.com uses cookies? Why?
Jazzhouston.com uses session cookies, those that exist only while the browser is open, to manage the logging in and out process. The site also sets one permanent cookie with your username. This is why members see their username pre-filled in the login box.
What technologies are used on this site?
Jazzhouston.com runs on a Java-based architecture. The server is a Linux box with Apache JServe serving JSP pages and JavaBeans which hit a MySQL Database. By today's standards, it's a little dated, but it gets the job done. A future version will be built either using Struts, Hibernate and Resin or it will be built using PHP. That debate continues to rage in Andrew's head.
