It's like a Jeopardy question. The Answer is: One of the world's greatest jazz clarinetists.

Who is Eddie Daniels?

Having originally established himself as a saxophonist with groups like The Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra, Daniels decided to focus his efforts on the clarinet. His output since then has shown a level of maturity and artistry matched by only a handful of jazz clarinetists.

Here's the Houston Youth Symphony Press Release:

About Eddie Daniels: Eddie Daniels is quite possibility the best jazz and classical clarinetist the world has known. He received a Master's in Clarinet from Julliard, has many awards to his credit including multiple Grammy nominations and one Grammy win, and has recorded more than 15 albums of classical and jazz music. The virtuoso of jazz and classical music performs at jazz festivals and concerts throughout the United States, Europe, Japan, and Latin America. The Houston Youth Symphony & Ballet is honored to bring Daniels to Houston for this special concert event.

About the Houston Youth Symphony: The mission of the Houston Youth Symphony & Ballet (HYS&B) is to recruit, nurture and develop young musicians and dancers by enabling them to perform in a professional setting while enriching the cultural environment of Houston and the State of Texas. HYS&B was founded by Howard F. Webb of the Houston Independent School District and the late Coralie Gregory Wood, former Supervisor of Music, Houston Parks and Recreation Department, and filed its charter with the State of Texas in 1948.

Allegro Ballet joined with the Houston Youth Symphony in 1955, and in 1964 the charter was revised to include the adoption of theAllegro Ballet as an official ballet wing. Dedicated to youth, arts and education, HYS&B is one of the largest youth symphonies in the United States, with more than 300 young artists from 5 to 21 years of age.  Nationally, it is the only organization that has a ballet wing.  Young musicians and dancers gain excellent career experience while learning to perform with their peers in a structured environment. Alumni who live in Houston continue to enrich our performing arts scene and can be found pursuing their careers in music and dance throughout the United States.
