Pianist Michael Wolff, probably best known as keyboardist/musical director for the Arsenio Hall show, will be presenting his group, "Impure Thoughts," at Ovations tonight. After presenting a smoking clinic at HSPVA, he should be ready to do some serious damage with his own group. The concert is being sponsored by Texas Accountants & Lawyers for the Arts.

Brings Great Jazz to Houston in October

As a part of its membership drive, Texas Accountants and Lawyers for the Arts (TALA) presents a concerts of New York City’s jazz sensation Michael Wolff and Impure Thoughts. It’s world-class jazz in Houston. Impure Thoughts features Michael Wolff on the piano, Alex Foster (reeds), John B. Williams (bass), Badal Roy (tablas, percussion), Frank Colon (congos, percussion), and Victor Jones (drums). These talented musicians have come together to put the soul back into jazz (no Kenny G sounds from this group).

Ticket purchases are available through TALA for two performances, 8 P.M. and 10:30 P.M., at Ovations, 2536 Times Blvd. (at Kirby), on Friday, October 13th. R.S.V.P. to Jolene McMaster at 713-780-3671. Prices are $35 (reserved) and $20 (general admission). Seating is limited. New and renewing members of TALA receive a $10 discount.                 Houston’s Internet Talk Host Rob McKinnon interviewed Michael Wolff and wife, Polly Draper (Ellen in TV’s thirtysomething) when they were in Houston  promoting their recently released award winning feature film, The Tic Code. That audio interview (complete with music from the soundtrack) is available in its entirety at www.iten.net, the Internet Talk & Entertainment Network (featured last month on Channel 11’s 5:00 News as Houston’s first and only internet “radio” station).
